EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin signed a bill on Jan. 1 that made the state the first to opt into the Education Freedom Tax Credit program, a federal initiative that gives a tax credit up to $1,700 for donations to scholarship groups starting in 2027 (including two local ones). Potomac Local News
- ➤ Stafford Schools welcomed two new student representatives to the board this calendar year to voice students' opinions on school matters. Juniors Ta’Layah Davis at Stafford High and Safdar Qureshi at North Stafford will also join a new statewide organization supporting student reps. Fredericksburg Free Press
- ➤ Sealston Elementary School celebrated 123 D.A.R.E. graduates who learned safe and healthy choices in a program supported by teachers, families + law enforcement. The students participated in class activities that built leadership skills for school and life. Fredericksburg Free Press
