- ➤ Monday afternoon, firefighters from Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania responded to a fire at Greenbriar Apartments where two cats were rescued and treated while one cat and one dog were lost, with no injuries reported. Potomac Local News

- ➤ House Bill 900, introduced Jan. 14 at the House of Delegates in Richmond, proposes lowering the state sales tax rate while expanding taxes to services like haircuts, streaming, and delivery fees; the regional tax will include Fredericksburg and surrounding areas and is now pending in the House Committee on Finance. - ➤ Stafford County Fire and Rescue congratulated the new recruits who graduated from Recruit Academy 20 on Tuesday, Jan. 27. They will soon serve the community in fire and rescue operations. Potomac Local News

- ➤ Mary Washington Healthcare launched its Post Birth Alert Bracelet program on Jan. 27, 2026, giving new mothers red silicone bracelets (I gave birth) at hospital discharge so clinicians can quickly spot postpartum complications.
