  • Atlantic Builders donated $500,000 to local nonprofits under its Give Back Home initiative using proceeds from a home sale built with help from trade partners. The funding supports organizations that offer health, job training and housing services in the Fredericksburg area.  Potomac Local News

  • Dave Muraca with the George Washington Foundation explains how Ferry Farm’s wet lab cleans and studies artifacts uncovered during summer digs to reveal everyday life at George Washington’s boyhood home (showing the property’s use by generations in South Stafford).  Fredericksburg Free Press
  • Summer: The Donna Summer Musical runs through March 1 at Riverside Center for the Performing Arts in Stafford County and brings the disco legend's life to stage with high-energy dance numbers.   • University of Mary Washington will host its fourth annual Maker Mindset Conference on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Academy of Innovation and Technology at UMW — the event offers 18 breakout sessions designed to help educators spark innovation, and registration closes Wednesday, Feb. 4 at $40.  University of Mary Washington

  • Eastern View wrestling's Michael Byrne was named FLS Varsity Athlete of the Week on Feb. 2 + he was honored for his performance on the mat.  The Free Lance–Star
  • Chris O’Neill is named the new manager for the Fredericksburg Nationals as he leads the team into its sixth season — he joins after two seasons at Virginia Commonwealth University and the team will open its season Friday, April 3 at 6:35 p.m. against Augusta.  Potomac Local News
