  • Jeremiah Community will move forward after receiving $2.9 million in federal funding secured by senators Kaine and Warner — the housing project on 31 acres off Fall Hill Ave will start building infrastructure this year as part of a $17.5 million first phase that includes 50 units and a center.  Fredericksburg Free Press
  • The Coldest Night walk for Micah Ministries will take place Feb. 28 at Riverfront Park in downtown Fredericksburg. Participants will gather, follow a designated route, and return to the park to support the charity’s work with neighbors experiencing homelessness and housing instability.  Fredericksburg Free Press
  • On Friday, Feb. 13, FAMPO asked local residents for input on long-range planning — a key step in shaping future projects. A Ponax basketball game also set a new scoring record, marking a local sports highlight.  The Free Lance–Star

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Planet Novak, a new arcade featuring nearly 50 skill-based claw machines with high-demand prizes, opened Nov. 1 at Spotsylvania Towne Centre near Build-A-Bear and the children’s play area. Owner Clint Novak, a longtime Fredericksburg resident, plans to expand the concept to local restaurants and businesses.  Potomac Local News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fredericksburg City Public Schools has proposed a $68.4M operating budget for fiscal year 2027 that includes a 7% raise and 15 new full-time positions, with a public hearing on March 3 and a joint session with the City Council on April 14 — the proposal targets academic gaps.  Potomac Local News

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Eats Burger Joint in Fredericksburg now offers clear outdoor igloos that let diners enjoy winter meals along Lafayette Boulevard despite record low temperatures. The igloos are available on a first-come basis and include a campfire area with s’mores kits (Austin Barker explained the idea).  Potomac Local News
