ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Stafford County hosts a spring shad run along the Rappahannock from mid-March through early May. Families and wildlife watchers can see fish swimming upstream and birds diving for shad near Fredericksburg and Falmouth Beach (a local favorite spot). Potomac Local News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fredericksburg earned a Class 2 Public Protection Classification from the Insurance Services Office, upgrading from its former Class 3 rating, and Fire Chief Mike Jones said the ten-year evaluation (covering staffing, equipment, and water supply) ranks the city among only 22 communities statewide. - ➤ Three local groups—Micah Ecumenical Ministries, Loisann’s Hope House and Empowerhouse—received over $1.25 million from the Virginia Housing Trust Fund Homeless Reduction Grant program. Gov.
