ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • In February, 125,000 gallons of untreated sewage leaked near Caroline and Dixon streets in Fredericksburg after city officials touted a sewer upgrade without mentioning the overflow, raising local concern.  The Free Lance–Star

CULTURE NEWS

  • The HFFI awarded local preservation leaders today for restoring iconic historic sites — including projects on Caroline Street and downtown landmarks—to honor efforts that sustain Fredericksburg’s built heritage.   • Bishop Duane Fields released his 21-day devotional, From Verse to Victory, at Oxford Mount Zion Baptist Church after a March 8 book signing, offering daily spiritual reflections that address cultural challenges and inspire new believers.   • The Stafford County School Board is examining a revenue-sharing agreement with supervisors to secure stable, multi-year funding for local schools + the proposal, published on Friday, Mar. 13, would reduce annual budget uncertainty.  Potomac Local News
  • Mary Wash Day 2026 at University of Mary Washington is a 24-hour event from March 25-26 that will unlock matches for scholarships and programs. On March 25, festivities on the Cedric Rucker University Center patio include food, games and a Pie It Forward contest for donors giving $5 or more.  University of Mary Washington
  • At UMW in Fredericksburg, SGA president Amira Said is set to lead ASPIRE Week from April 13-18 (a six-day celebration of university values). She has also launched a weekly composting program to reduce food waste with support from her Impact Grant and community partners.  University of Mary Washington
