  • Fredericksburg news shows Fall Hill Avenue Historic District has been added to the Virginia Landmarks Register while Chancellor High School grad Emma Fitzsimmons will debut her film OUR FATHER at NYU—local groups are also hosting free empowerment webinars on health topics, an Arbor Day celebration at Maury Park on April 10, and Bark in the Park games at FredNats Stadium. The Department of Parks, Recreation & Events will offer free walks and talks in Cossey Park Arboretum from March 31 through June 24—master gardeners will lead sessions on pruning, native plants, and more.  The Free Lance–Star

  • Congressman Eugene Vindman joined the Blue Star Mothers of Fredericksburg Chapter 4 at Oak Hill Cemetery on March 29 to honor Vietnam veterans on Vietnam War Veterans Day. The event remembered the sacrifices of those who served and highlighted their lasting impact.  Fredericksburg Free Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sumerduck Ruritan Club members will host an event on April 8 to support Maverick Thompson—a child battling aggressive leukemia—and his family.  The Free Lance–Star
  • Mary Washington Hospital will move its care for very small babies to the new Joe and Mary Wilson Neonatal Intensive Care Unit on Monday, March 31 as 44 nurses and four nursing assistants begin working in the 11,000 square foot unit that cost $13 million. The new unit—which is named for benefactors who gave $5 million—will raise baby care capacity from 17 to 25.  The Free Lance–Star
