  • Sarah Smethurst and Craig Graziano with the Central Rappahannock Regional Library previewed the 11th annual CRRL-Con, which will take place April 12 from 12 to 4 at the Howell branch library—attendees will have a chance to experience library-led programming.  Fredericksburg Free Press
  • A playful April Fools prank with an In–N–Out Burger sign on Princess Anne Street stirred local curiosity while the board meeting scheduled for today was cancelled due to few agenda items—Old Dominion Humane Society will host Puppy Yoga on April 11 and Delegate Michelle Maldonado will lead community talks on federal layoffs at Manassas Park Community Center tonight.  Potomac Local News

  • Local business news shows that Buc-ee's in Stafford requested rezoning for its travel center project on a 35-acre site which needs a conditional-use permit for a 74,000-square-foot facility. Mary Washington Hospital opened an expanded NICU and a proposed data center, new store projects, and several lease transactions are moving ahead in the region—driving a busy pace for local developments.  Fredericksburg Free Press

  • On Friday, seniors at James Monroe High School will volunteer with several local non-profits - honoring Ceili Leahy who dedicated her life to service until her passing in 2016.  Fredericksburg Free Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fredericksburg officials and FCPS leaders met Tuesday to discuss the FY 2026 budget that may cut school operating funds by $3 million. They will freeze non-payroll spending until mid-year reviews — a public hearing on April 15 will guide next steps.  Fredericksburg Free Press
  • Lawmakers rejected most of Governor Youngkin’s proposed budget cuts that would have reduced funding for education and health and approved bipartisan bills to reform probation and toughen dangerous driving laws—Governor Youngkin will review the changes over the next 30 days, setting up potential clashes before the new fiscal year begins.  Fredericksburg Free Press
