- ➤ The Friends of the Central Rappahannock Regional Library have launched an April membership drive offering rewards to new and renewing members as they prepare a multi-day book sale at the Friends Center and Bookshop that begins today—preview for members only from 5 to 9 p.m. and runs through April 9. In addition, local Easter events include an egg hunt on April 5 at Kyle R. Wilson Elementary and an Easter Bunny visit at Potomac Mills through April 19 while the ARTfactory in Manassas will open Arthur Miller’s All My Sons on April 5. Potomac Local News

- ➤ A traveling exhibit in Alexandria honors Dr. Gladys West, a retired scientist from King George who played a key role in GPS development during her 42-year career at the Dahlgren Navy base. The exhibit—organized by the National Center of Women’s Innovations and housed at the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus—remains on display through June and follows the March 7 declaration of Dr. Gladys West Day. - ➤ Tree Fredericksbug gathered at Old Mill Park on April 3 to pot 3,000 tree seedlings — a local effort to boost reforestation. Volunteers worked through the day to prepare the seedlings for future planting in our community parks. Fredericksburg Free Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fredericksburg City Council and the School Board discussed whether early tax payments from the new Stack Infrastructure data center project in Celebrate Virginia South could help ease a $1.5 million budget gap but City Manager Tim Baroody said the plan is a long shot—any prepayments would not be available for several fiscal years. The city is negotiating a water services agreement with the developer through the end of 2025 as part of its efforts to manage fiscal pressures and planned tax increases. Potomac Local News
- ➤ Stafford County Supervisor Meg Bohmke announced Tuesday night that she will not seek a fourth term and endorsed Michael Catell to represent the Falmouth District. Catell—a 22-year Falmouth resident with extensive community and fund development experience—accepted her endorsement and said he will address local challenges in the coming months. - ➤ Virginia lawmakers rejected most of Gov. Youngkin’s proposed budget changes, including a planned $300 million cut from school staffing, and approved bipartisan bills on probation reform and dangerous driving—Youngkin said he will review the changes over the next 30 days—adding uncertainty to the state budget.
