- ➤ Local peer recovery specialist Javonne Kirby, honored with the Drum Major for Justice Award, founded Community Canvas to offer free art sessions that help neighbors connect. The program runs Mondays and Thursdays from noon to 4 p.m. at Fredericksburg Baptist Church and welcomes everyone. Fredericksburg Free Press

- ➤ UMW was named a Top Employer for Interns by SCHEV as its internship program earned statewide praise, and four local students were recognized for translating classroom learning into on-the-job work during National Internship Awareness Month.
