- ➤ Fredericksburg City Schools discussed aging building systems and deferred maintenance during its April 14 work session with City Council as it plans the FY2027 budget. - ➤ UMW’s Board of Visitors approved modest tuition, fee, and housing increases for the 2026-27 school year, keeping overall costs among the most affordable. Students can expect about a 3% rise compared to current rates. The Free Lance–Star
