- ➤ On Wednesday, the Rappahannock Tribe acquired nearly 1,000 acres along the Rappahannock River from The Conservation Fund to be preserved forever under an easement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Virginia Board of Historic Resources. The tribe will expand its Return to the River program with plans for a visitors’ center, pow wow grounds, and walking trails on Fones Cliffs—an area that is key habitat for nesting bald eagles and rich in ancestral history.
