- ➤ Officials are examining new bridge options for a river crossing proposal first raised by FAMPO in late 2023 — interest remains high as planning moves forward. The Free Lance–Star
- ➤ Delegate Bobby Orrock, first elected in 1989, is running for a 19th term to represent the 66th District (Caroline and Spotsylvania counties) and faces a challenge from Spotsylvania School Board member Nicole Cole. He stressed bipartisanship, accepted a $1,000 donation, and urged local supporters to help him finish the work. Fredericksburg Free Press
- ➤ Virginia Tax officials reminded taxpayers that the filing and payment deadline for individual income taxes is May 1; electronic returns are usually processed within four weeks while mailed returns may take up to eight weeks. Taxpayers including victims of Hurricane Helene and February flooding can file online for free or request a six-month extension if they pay the tax owed on time. Fredericksburg Free Press
