- ➤ UMW senior Ashley Lam enhances campus life by training Washington Guides and organizing events like First Friday and the Block Party — she also serves on Class Council to boost student engagement as she prepares for graduation in May. University of Mary Washington
- ➤ Senior student-athlete Jay Hooker at UMW majors in accounting while taking on leadership roles with the lacrosse team and SAAC, and he will join the finance industry full time after graduation. University of Mary Washington
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Fredericksburg hosted the 2026 Walk MS event today to raise funds and awareness for multiple sclerosis research. Community members joined the walk with photo coverage by Ted Schubel to showcase local support. Fredericksburg Free Press
- ➤ On Saturday, May 2, the National Council of Negro Women hosted its third health fair at Spotsylvania Towne Centre Mall. The fair (titled New Year, Better Health) brought together over 35 organizations to offer immunizations, live exercise demos, and free resources, with Councilwoman Joy Crump highlighting local wellness programs.
