  • Today we remember the Bloody Angle (162 years later) at Spotsylvania Court House, where soldiers fought 22 hours of fierce, hand-to-hand combat during the Civil War. Historian Chris Mackowski said the battle left soldiers exhausted amid harsh, muddy conditions.  Fredericksburg Free Press

  • UMW celebrated its new graduates on Monday, May 11, with a graduation ceremony at its campus + faculty and family marked the milestone with speeches and recognition of academic achievements.  The Free Lance–Star
  • At its May 4 meeting, the Fredericksburg City School Board noted a surge in special education enrollment as overall student numbers declined, while Cruise Planners with AmaWaterways will host a Sunday matinee of Under the Tuscan Sun on May 31 at 2:45 p.m.—offering a local travel opportunity.  Potomac Local News
