- ➤ The Marine Corps Historic Half returns this weekend as the Semper Fred 5K runs on May 17 with road closures in the Central Park area from midnight to 9 a.m., affecting Gordon Shelton Boulevard and parts of Carl D. Silver Parkway. On May 18, the half marathon will cover Central Park, Cowan Boulevard, Hospital Hill, and Historic Downtown Fredericksburg with street closures and parking restrictions from 4 a.m. until about 11 a.m. Potomac Local News

- ➤ This month, UMW’s peer recovery specialist Devin Walsh marks his two-year sobriety milestone and leads the Eagles in Recovery program, which is supported by a Fund for Mary Washington Impact Grant (covering a recovery coffee bike and a safe clubhouse for students). The program gives students beverages and recovery ally training to help them stay substance-free and succeed in college (it began in 2017 and has since provided essential support to those overcoming addiction). - ➤ Fredericksburg hired Hanna Taylor as its new Environmental Sustainability Coordinator to lead the push for 100% renewable energy in municipal operations by 2035.
