Business owner Crossfield called him a hero for exposing crimes against humanity—she credited his efforts with alerting the world to the dangerous conditions that forced her to leave.

Runners competed in the Marine Corps Historic Half on Sunday morning in Fredericksburg, racing 13.1 miles while volunteers provided water and cheers — the event marked a vibrant community tradition.
