- ➤ Fredericksburg Police arrested Spotsylvania man Ahmad Haigler, 26, on Thursday for charges including first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Antione Fox, 19, on June 10th, 2023—he is now held at Rappahannock Regional Jail with no bond. Fredericksburg Free Press
- ➤ Ahmad Elijah Haigler was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the June 10 shooting death of 19-year-old Antione Fox in Fredericksburg & investigators said the two-year-old homicide case remains active & further updates will be provided as the investigation continues. - ➤ A judge in Spotsylvania rejected a request to silence defense attorneys in a slaying case where Tyler Chase Butler is accused of killing Michael Bosworth Jr. on May 3 in the River Club subdivision— a teenager present said they were taking part in related activities. The Free Lance–Star

- ➤ The University of Mary Washington announced its spring 2025 President’s and Dean’s Lists, honoring over 1,200 students who earned at least 12 graded credits and achieved the required high GPAs—4.00 for the President’s List and 3.50 to 3.99 for the Dean’s List. - ➤ Stafford County has started weekend patrols at the Historic Port of Falmouth today through summer — a busy riverfront spot for families — to boost safety. Rescue teams are stationed at the beach and upstream — officials advise wearing life jackets and using proper watercraft — to help with water emergencies and prevent drownings. Potomac Local News
- ➤ At a May 27 city council session, Fredericksburg officials reported that the wastewater plant upgrade has secured more than $105 million in grants and now has an estimated cost of $185.6 million while the state nutrient reduction deadline was moved to January 1 — 2030 to ease the burden on local taxpayers. - ➤ Fredericksburg City Council approved a $1.8 million design contract with DJG, Inc. for the third fire station at 3340 Fall Hill Avenue in Bragg Hill, with construction scheduled for fiscal year 2027 at a planning cost of $20 million. The council also passed the FY2026 budget of $136.9 million with $6 million in holdbacks plus officials promised to preserve community assets including the adjacent sports fields, basketball court and community garden while planning a new baseball field close to the current diamond. - ➤ Stafford County supervisors supported Option C — which runs from Celebrate Virginia Parkway in Stafford to Gordon W. Shelton Boulevard in Fredericksburg — for a planned new river crossing over the Rappahannock River. They will finalize their choice on June 3 — with FAMPO’s policy committee voting on the preferred route on June 16 — as part of efforts to ease projected traffic gridlock by 2050.
