  • Recent high school graduations took place in Prince William and Stafford Counties, a cool weekend surprised residents, and guided campus tours at Germanna’s new center are set for summer while family shows will light up Locust Shade Park’s amphitheater. Quantico will have training noise until June 13 — local officials welcome Occoquan’s new events director Tammy Hassett — and downtown will fly Pride flags from June 23 through 29.  Potomac Local News
  • Officials and residents met at the south end of Caroline Street on May 29 to discuss plans for a Dixon Park Connector trail—designed to boost bike-ability and link neighborhoods. The proposal faced concerns over parking, homeless camps, rideability, and traffic.  Potomac Local News
  • Kelly Shores will work out for 24 hours June 13—14 at CrossFit Retro in Spotsylvania to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. She will dedicate her workout to her dad as part of her yearly fundraising efforts.  Fredericksburg Free Press
  • Potomac Library will host a meet and make event on Monday, June 09 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.—attendees will decorate summer tote bags for the beach using provided bags, supplies and light refreshments while registration is required.  Potomac Local News

CULTURE NEWS

  • More than 300 people gathered Monday night at the Fredericksburg branch of the Central Rappahannock Regional Library to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Music on the Steps with a live performance by Elby Brass. The free event runs every Monday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. — bring your own chairs or blankets — and marks a milestone in the library's music series.  Fredericksburg Free Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fredericksburg is seeking candidates for City Treasurer and Commissioner of the Revenue—both offices carry four-year terms starting January 1 and require applicants to be residents, at least 18, and qualified voters. Candidates must submit a complete packet with 125 petition signatures by June 17 to appear on the November 4 ballot.  City of Fredericksburg
