- ➤ Richard T. McGrath, the Chief Judge of the 15th Judicial District, was indicted Monday on a Class 4 felony bribery charge against a public official—records show the act occurred on July 15 in Spotsylvania County amid an ongoing investigation after a county board meeting. - ➤ Stafford County Public Schools are removing artificial dyes from school meals to meet a state law that bans them by 2027+ they have already taken out snacks with Red Dye #3 and are working with food vendors to bring in dye-free options. Potomac Local News
- ➤ Fredericksburg City Schools said their special education program improved from a 'needs intervention' status in 2022 to meeting state standards, and board member Malvina Rollins Kay celebrated the progress at a recent meeting. James Monroe High School saw lower SOL credits in reading, biology, and algebra while Walker-Grant Middle School and local elementary schools showed gains; new plans include an Elevate pilot program for rising ninth-graders and full Head Start funding (supporting at-risk families) (test details will be shared later). - ➤ Stafford County ended its eight-year contract with PulsePoint in April because officials said it did not increase bystander CPR.
