  • Fredericksburg public schools posted mixed SOL scores — some subjects improved while others declined — and Chief Judge Richard T. McGrath was indicted for alleged bribery in Spotsylvania. The Occoquan Duck Splash race is postponed to June 15 at 12 p.m due to unsafe river conditions, Cupcake Heaven marks 17 years after expanding from Haymarket to Marshall and Lexington, and Governor Youngkin addressed over 500 people in Greensboro.  Potomac Local News

  • Two individuals were convicted for involuntary manslaughter after a Spotsylvania crash last year that killed a 72-year-old woman—one was sentenced Monday to serve six months.  The Free Lance–Star

  • The 36th Chamber Music Festival is held this week at UMW—Director Mike Reynolds said the festival features talks on its history and excellence—showing its long legacy.  Fredericksburg Free Press
  • Gaila Sims, who championed Black history exhibits at Fredericksburg Area Museum since 2021, will leave her post on Aug. 1 to write a book about racial issues and teach African American History at Germanna Community College this fall. The museum will begin an immediate search for a new curator of African American history.  Fredericksburg Free Press

  • Multiple roadwork projects on I‑95 and nearby roads are underway — causing alternating lane closures and detours from Sunday to Thursday. Officials say drivers must plan extra travel time — delays may last until the projects are finished.  Potomac Local News
