- ➤ First Watch will open its restaurant at Central Park in the former TGI Fridays building at 1160 Carl D. Silver Parkway on Monday while Hanover Company proposes a mixed-use project with 320 apartments, 21000 square feet of retail space plus an 80000 square feet hotel near the new VA health center in Spotsylvania County that is expected to finish in 2028 if approved. Other business news includes 104 homes sold last week, the Stover Jarrell Agency purchasing adjacent Sophia St. properties for lease, Mary Washington Healthcare buying and planning to renovate a 14488 square feet medical facility at 130 Executive Center Parkway, a new restaurant planned at 314 William St., and a community baby shower on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Convention Center. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Fredericksburg will start a project on Monday, June 23 to rebuild sidewalks and upgrade ADA access ramps (work will focus on Princess Anne Street and Idlewild Boulevard with some tree removals) as part of its Pavement Rehabilitation Program. Construction will last through mid-October, and temporary parking restrictions will be in place (contact Public Works at 540-372-1023 for details). City of Fredericksburg
- ➤ Voters in Spotsylvania’s Lee Hill District face a choice between incumbent Lori Hayes—who supports special use permits for data centers and balanced growth—and challenger Marcus Garcia, a retired Coast Guard veteran who favors by-right development and full funding for public schools.
