ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Virginia State Police reported that a small plane from Shannon Airport suffered engine trouble and crashed in a field along Spotswood Furnace Road in Spotsylvania Friday around 2:34 p.m.—both onboard received very minor injuries and the FAA was notified. Fredericksburg Free Press

- ➤ Former area theater teacher Fred Franklin created a Shakespeare garden that features raised beds & plants and quotes from Shakespeare. His caregiver Tom Clark said locals can learn more about the project and get involved. Fredericksburg Free Press

- ➤ Virginia State Senator Tara Durant (R) announced her campaign for Congress on June 18 to challenge incumbent Rep. Eugene Vindman in the 7th District. She must build support in Prince William County as she moves from the state senate into a race expected to attract high spending in 2026. Potomac Local News
- ➤ Former councilman Matt Kelly — who served for nearly 20 years — is challenging current council member Susanna Finn for the Ward 3 seat as he launches his bid to return to the council. The Free Lance–Star
- ➤ Rock Hill Church Road reopened after maintenance on the temporary single-lane bridge over Aquia Creek finished ahead of schedule, lifting the detour that started on June 16. A full bridge replacement is planned to begin in 2026 and will install a new two-lane structure. Potomac Local News
