- ➤ Chip Boyles of the George Washington Regional Commission presented plans to Stafford officials on how housing, land use and transportation affect affordable living. He said that the region needs 45,000 homes by 2040 to support an increase of 111,000 people — a challenge that calls for smart growth strategies. The Free Lance–Star

- ➤ Area football coaches in Spotsylvania County are holding summer conditioning sessions to prepare for the upcoming season. Veteran Courtland coach J.C. Hall and new mentors like Vern Lunsford and Adwela Dawes lead daily workouts + a free youth football camp for children in grades 3 to 8 will be held on June 28 at Fredericksburg Christian Elite Complex.
