- ➤ Fredericksburg Planning Commission held a public hearing Wednesday night at 3430 Fall Hill Ave to review rezoning for a 34.7-acre mixed-use development that may include a 14,000 square foot grocery store potentially operated by Trader Joe’s. The plan also calls for 240 single-family attached homes, 365 apartments, commercial space and a new road with signalized intersections (the project is expected to complete by the end of 2028). - ➤ The strong heat dome that pushed temperatures to record levels is easing as most places stayed below 100 degrees, though sticky air and scattered thunderstorms remain a risk. Forecasts show that later in the week, isolated storms will develop (for example, South Boston hit 100 on Tuesday) as conditions gradually shift back to more typical summer warmth.
