  • Synovia Irving from Moncks Corner, S.C. was jailed after allegedly assaulting deputies during a court hearing in Spotsylvania—she faces two felony counts, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.  The Free Lance–Star
  • Michael Allen Cox (39), an electrician turned peeping tom, was convicted on nine misdemeanor counts in Spotsylvania and received a 2-year jail sentence.  The Free Lance–Star

  • Stafford County officials shut down Falmouth resident Stefanie Hughes’ small farm stand on May 30 because A-2 zoning prohibits such uses—Hughes built the 4-by-8 shed over Memorial Day weekend to sell local produce and has appealed the order to seek a home business exception.  Potomac Local News

HEALTH NEWS

  • 68-year-old Diana Lewis, a former Spotsylvania resident, reached her weight goal in 2024 and was named TOPS Virginia Queen after losing 63.2 pounds in the Taking Off Pounds Sensibly program—she joined the group in 2021 for steady support. She lost nearly 200 pounds overall and now uses her cane less often—attending family sports games with renewed energy.  The Free Lance–Star
