Diamond Baseball Holdings finalized the purchase of the FredNats—keeping the team as the Single-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals at Virginia Credit Union Stadium and retaining its front-office staff while former president Seth Silber remains with the club as a minority shareholder. In other news, auto dealership owner Clay Huber expanded his property along Fall Hill Avenue for future development—SimVentions named Joe Caliri as its new CEO as Larry Root stepped down—and regional real estate transactions saw homes sold and commercial leases signed.
A paved bicycle and pedestrian connector opened along Lafayette Boulevard between Twin Lake Drive and St. Paul Street in Fredericksburg.
The $2.4 million project features accessible ramps, marked crosswalks, and new pedestrian signals plus a bike repair station at Alum Spring Park, and its contractor finished work four months early.
On Tuesday night, Spotsylvania County supervisors listened as Virginia Heritage HOA president John Gattuso said the county released performance bonds to Lennar Homes too soon, causing extra repair costs for a road and a cul-de-sac.
Gattuso asked for $880,368 + $400,000 in relief, and Chair Chris Yakabouski said the board will gather more information next month before deciding on a remedy.
