  • The Fredericksburg SPCA accepted six dogs and six cats from a rescue flight from Richmond carrying animals from flood-affected Texas. After a kitten tested positive for feline panleukopenia, the shelter placed a 14-day quarantine on its cats & transferred them to Squishy Face Crew.  Fredericksburg Free Press

  • Xavier C. Roberts, 44, was sentenced Friday in Spotsylvania Circuit Court to 20 years — 15 of which are suspended.  The Free Lance–Star

  • The FXBG Peeps Show is now open at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center on Caroline Street — the exhibit features the theme 'Lights, Camera, Peeps' and lets visitors vote for the Peep-Les choice through July 27.  Fredericksburg Free Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Stafford residents near the Rappahannock River have asked county officials to review data center zoning—citing fears that new projects will spoil the rural view and damage farmland. County supervisors will reconvene on Aug. 19 to review the proposals—after nearly all residents voiced their concerns in earlier meetings.  The Free Lance–Star
