- ➤ Drool in the Pool returns on Saturday, September 6 at Woodlands Pool in Stafford and on Sunday, September 7 at Mark Lenzi Pool in Fredericksburg — both events run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for $6. Owners must be 18 or older, show written proof of current rabies vaccination, and bring a donation to help the Stafford County Animal Shelter. Potomac Local News

- ➤ The University of Mary Washington has been named in the 2026 Fiske Guide to Colleges as one of the nation’s best and most interesting schools—praised for its strong academics, small classes, and active campus life in historic Fredericksburg, and it is one of 11 Virginia universities recognized in the guide. - ➤ Virginia housing nonprofits and local residents are watching federal proposals that may cut HUD funding, which supports nearly 200,000 homes—50,000 of those housing voucher users may face new challenges. - ➤ Road construction and lane closures will impact I‑95, Route 1 and other local roads in Fredericksburg and nearby areas as crews conduct inspections, milling, paving and safety improvements, mostly overnight.
