  • Fredericksburg's Antoine Carey of the Faded Foundation is collecting gently used clothes through Sept. 26 to help pay for books, tuition & mentorship at the Faded & Co. Barber Academy.   • On Sept. 16, attendees will gather at Mary Washington House for Washington Heritage Museums’ Tea Talk — the event will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 to 4 p.m., featuring Paul Newman who will explain the legacy of the oldest patriotic organization and offer a full tea service for $40 per person.  The Free Lance–Star

  • The Virginia Department of Health advises families enjoying Labor Day weekend outdoors to use EPA-registered repellent, treat clothing, wear long sleeves, and perform tick checks after hiking, camping, or backyard play. They recommend promptly removing ticks with fine-tipped tweezers and cleaning the bite area to help prevent illnesses like Lyme disease+Alpha-gal syndrome.  Fredericksburg Free Press

  • On Friday, August 29th, the Courtland Cougars beat the Massaponax Panthers 35—6 in the high school football season opener, with Ahmari Boxely and teammates making big plays as photojournalist Jeff Kearney captured the action.  Fredericksburg Free Press
  • Spotsylvania High School football team won 28 to 8 against Fluvanna County on Friday night as Vern Lunsford made his homecoming debut as head coach at his old school—Braden Hodges threw for 174 yards and a touchdown while Hudson Callahan caught 107 yards. The Knights will visit Massaponax next Friday.  Fredericksburg Free Press
