Local organizations have planned community events for families—ranging from the Drew Middle School Retired Teachers Association’s 50th anniversary reunion at Fairview Beach on Sept.24, a Tea Talk at Mary Washington House on Sept.16, and a Master Gardener meeting on bees at the Central Branch Library on Sept.17. Additional events include a Family Fall Festival at Fredericksburg Fairgrounds on Sept.20, a Civil War roundtable dinner at the Jepson Alumni Executive Center on Sept.24, a Fawn Lake triathlon that raised $75,000 for charity, a Sumerduck parade and festival on Sept.27, a ‘Star-Spangled Night Sky’ program at Colonial Beach on Sept.27, a Main Street vote open until Sept.15, a new Clothing Connection by Stafford County Public Schools, and a King George Fall Festival on Oct.11.

Friday night, high schools such as Massaponax won key nondistrict football games as it beat James Monroe 30-20 with Joe Sanders and Brian Henderson each running over 100 yards, and teams like Brooke Point, Colonial Forge, Courtland, Riverbend, Patriot, North Stafford, and Stafford also secured wins with strong play.
