COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The food bank is hosting weekly Drive-Thru — Walk-Up distributions for local residents who need food assistance and invites them to come once a week.  Fredericksburg Free Press
  • Six volunteers helped Rappahannock Education Farm in White Oak finish its first 800-plus-pound harvest day on Saturday—mostly collecting zucchini and tomatoes—which pushed total donations past 11,000 pounds to fight local hunger. The farm will harvest more vegetables like sweet potatoes and cucumbers in the coming days.  Fredericksburg Free Press

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Sunday, Tree Fredericksburg hosted its Fall Native Plant Festival where volunteers distributed over 2,400 native plants and 3,000 shrubs to boost pollinator habitat and restore the urban forest—part of a broader effort to enhance biodiversity and sustainable landscaping.  Fredericksburg Free Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Sept23, the City celebrated the early completion of Phase I of its AMI Project at the City Shop—replacing 8,752 water meters for better accuracy and efficiency in billing. Phase II will launch next year with the Eye on Water app, allowing customers to monitor real-time water usage.  City of Fredericksburg
  • Fredericksburg voters will choose from eight candidates for four constitutional offices—Commonwealth’s Attorney, sheriff, commissioner of revenue and treasurer—in the November election. The candidates have detailed their experience and plans to boost public safety and improve government services, setting the stage for a competitive race—particularly between incumbent Humphries and challenger Bird.  The Free Lance–Star
