  • Loisann’s Day returns Sunday at Maury Park from noon to 3 p.m. with a Best Burger in the Burg contest that supports local families by highlighting Loisann’s Hope House services + transportation assistance programs for work, school, and essential needs.  Fredericksburg Free Press

  • Bill Freehling interviewed Heidi Bass, owner of Trolley Tours of Fredericksburg, about her work driving a large bus for city tours — her conversation is part of his weekly podcast featuring local business leaders. EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Mary Washington will host fall Open Houses to give high school students a closer look at its Honors Program and STEM opportunities. The campus tours are planned for Saturday, October 18 (focused on the Honors Program) and Saturday, November 8 (highlighting STEM fields) in Fredericksburg.  University of Mary Washington

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A man known for using costumes and satire was removed from a Spotsylvania County School Board meeting Monday night after using mocking language in discussing a child abuse case—officials said his remarks breached meeting decorum.  Potomac Local News
  • This week, road work will affect I-95 and many local roads with bridge washing, lane closures, and pavement marking — projects set for Fredericksburg, Caroline, Spotsylvania, and other counties. Officials said several key intersections and bridge repairs will continue on busy routes, with some work scheduled to finish in 2026 and later.  Fredericksburg Free Press
  • The City of Fredericksburg and Fredericksburg Main Street have launched a survey asking residents and business owners for input on how event street closures affect pedestrians and downtown commerce+ the feedback will guide future planning and solutions and remains open until Oct. 24.  Fredericksburg Free Press
