- ➤ Local government departments have issued urgent notices warning that a possible shutdown could delay food assistance for 35,000 area residents—public officials advise that those affected prepare for potential interruptions. The Free Lance–Star
- ➤ Today a Public Works contractor will paint double yellow center lines on Prince Edward Street between Amelia and Canal to guide drivers and ease traffic—a project from the Downtown Traffic Study expected to take about four hours, weather permitting. City of Fredericksburg
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Tricord Inc. is planning the Cason’s Mill affordable housing project on a 6.6 acre tract off Courthouse Road in Spotsylvania, where 66 condo units with two bedrooms and two bathrooms will cost between $250,000 and $300,000 and offer county employees and first responders first choice. The project is in early planning as engineering and traffic studies will be completed before a rezoning application is submitted to inform local officials. Fredericksburg Free Press
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Riverbend High School football beat Colonial Forge 41–27 Friday night at home—keeping the Bears unbeaten at 7–0 and in first place in the district. Ian Shook Jr. and Adrien Picot each ran two touchdowns as Picot rushed for 155 yards, and the team will face Stafford next Friday in pursuit of its first outright district championship.
