  • The Food Bank announced that residents can receive food supplies once a week through its drive-thru (or walk-up) distributions this week, offering a regular chance for food assistance.  Fredericksburg Free Press

  • The Fredericksburg Farmers Market will host a free Halloween event on October 25—featuring games, crafts, a spooky maze, and trick or treating for all age groups.  Potomac Local News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jerrilynn MacGregor of the Stafford County Historical Society explained at the VA250 event that Aquia Creek was once a busy trade route that moved tobacco and sandstone used in federal buildings and even hosted a bare-knuckle boxing match. The historic creek connected local commerce with international waters—helping create jobs in the area.  Fredericksburg Free Press

  • Fredericksburg City Public Schools will celebrate Unity Day on October 22 as students and staff wear orange to stand united against bullying — the event will promote kindness, acceptance and inclusion to create a safe school culture.  Potomac Local News

  • Central Rappahannock River Habitat for Humanity is expanding its programs to help more families get affordable homeownership. The organization is adding flexible financial options and partnering with local lenders to offer new ways to build or renovate homes.  Fredericksburg Free Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Friday night district football games ended with Caroline High (7-0) winning 22-12 over Spotsylvania as senior quarterback Blake Morris threw two scoring passes and ran for 200 total yards, while James Monroe, Courtland, Massaponax and North Stafford also secured key wins.
