At a check presentation in Bowling Green, REC’s Power of Change program awarded a $5,000 grant to Habitat for Humanity—supporting a project at Caroline High School where students will gain hands-on building experience.

The funds come from REC members rounding up their monthly electric bills to benefit local nonprofits.

Micah Ecumenical Ministries was named a finalist for the 2025 Opus Prize—a faith-based award from Xavier University that honors social entrepreneurship and community outreach with downtown church groups serving the homeless.

The prize will be handed out on Nov. 13 at Xavier University in New Orleans—where ministry representatives will travel to share their work.

Late Monday afternoon, volunteers at Rappahannock Education Farm in White Oak gathered hundreds of pounds of fresh vegetables, and by noon Tuesday the produce reached Market Square for local families.

The effort partnered with area agencies like The Table at St. George’s—providing healthy food to those facing hunger.
