GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fredericksburg officials started the city’s annual leaf collection program and told residents to put leaves on the curb by 7 a.m. on the first service day in their section. City officials said only leaves will be picked up — branches, sticks, logs, or other debris will not be collected and weekly alerts will be posted on the city website. Potomac Local News
- ➤ Local officials have scheduled meetings this week—Fredericksburg school board members will review accreditation results and the Alongside AI app update, King George County will hold a public hearing on a solar facility proposal, and Stafford County supervisors will present a five-year general fund budget and consider a new airport name—aiming to address fiscal and educational priorities for residents. - ➤ A watch party at the Holiday Inn Fredericksburg Conference Center on November 4 celebrated local election wins in Stafford County. Del. Joshua Cole (D-Stafford) and Stacey Carroll (HD-64) hosted the event where Kecia Evans won a seat for the Falmouth District and Maya Guy was elected as Aquia District Supervisor. - ➤ Local authorities are carrying out road work this week on I‑95, Route 1, and several other roads with lane closures, overnight bridge washing, and flagging operations affecting traffic in Fredericksburg and nearby counties—projects include road widening, bridge repairs, and intersection improvements.
