- ➤ The Green Thread Project runs mobile outreach buses that deliver clothing, shoes, and hygiene items to residents in need in Fredericksburg+ volunteers keep the buses stocked to support the project's ongoing community events. Fredericksburg Free Press
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Megamart Supermarket opened last week at 515 Emancipation Highway, replacing the former Weis Markets store and serving the local Hispanic community. Changes include a planned renovation of the Massad Family YMCA wellness center from December 15—22, a proposed Spotsylvania rezoning for 17 detached homes and 117 townhouses, and the closure of Rey Azteca at Eagle Village. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At the University of Mary Washington Celebration of Giving on November 13, over 200 guests heard student speakers explain how donor-funded scholarships and awards helped fuel study abroad, internships, and research—while officials noted that gifts reached $37.8 million and the endowment surpassed $100 million. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ VDOT announced that starting noon on Nov. 26 many highway work zones will be suspended and temporary lane closures lifted on interstates and major roads for Thanksgiving travel while some semi-permanent zones remain active. Travelers can use the 511 Virginia tool to check traffic, weather, and congestion updates to plan their trips. Potomac Local News
- ➤ Fredericksburg Police announced street closures and parking restrictions for the upcoming Christmas parade. Parking will begin at 2 p.m., street closures will start at 3:30 p.m., the parade will start at 5:30 p.m., and streets will reopen by 9 p.m. Potomac Local News
