- ➤ Bob Whittingham’s Christmas windows were unveiled at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving night at 1021 Caroline Street — a crowd gathered despite the cold to celebrate a longtime holiday tradition in Fredericksburg. Fredericksburg Free Press

- ➤ Spotsylvania Towne Centre in Fredericksburg opens at 6 a.m. today with Black Friday giveaways that include swag bags for the first 200 shoppers and a chance to win a $500 gift card. A gift wrapping station—hosted by the Chancellor High School Lightning Regiment Marching Band—and live festivities in the Food Court from noon to 3 p.m. offer shoppers holiday fun. Potomac Local News

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rock Hill District Supervisor Crystal Vanuch said she prepared a letter opposing Dominion Energy’s proposed Kraken Loop transmission project and will invite board colleagues to join the effort after the Dec. 2 meeting—Darrell English will sign the letter. The 70-mile, 500-kilovolt project is in early development amid local concerns about property values, the environment, and health, and Vanuch urged residents to contact their state representatives. - ➤ Today and Saturday, 24 VHSL regional football finals are scheduled—five of these are rematch games from earlier this season—as teams in different classes compete in matchups set for Friday afternoon, Friday night, and Saturday.
