  • ➤ Fredericksburg residents planning holiday trips can look forward to lower gas prices — AAA forecasts 122.4 million Americans will drive from Saturday through Jan. 1.  The Free Lance–Star

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • ➤ Stafford County is asking residents to conserve water after November recorded only 1.51 inches below normal—the 25th driest in 131 years—and while light rain is forecast, officials advise turning off faucets and repairing leaks (to protect local water supplies).  Fredericksburg Free Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ➤ Local officials are seeking public input for a new memorial planned at the former Auction Block site and invite residents to share ideas to honor the area's history.  The Free Lance–Star

SPORTS NEWS

  • ➤ James Monroe holds Alumni Night today with a triple-header of boys basketball games. The event starts with Walker-Grant Middle School at 4:30 p.m., followed by junior varsity and varsity contests against King George, and it honors past champions while reuniting longtime coaches Chuck Ellis and Julian Bumbrey.  Fredericksburg Free Press
