- ➤ WFLS Radio hosted the annual Jingle Mingle on Dec. 12 at the Fredericksburg Convention Center and raised over $6,000 to help care for about 200 rescue dogs—funds that will support vaccinations, medical care and nutritious food at Old Dominion Humane Society on Lafayette Boulevard. - ➤ The City of Fredericksburg Department of Social Services thanked residents for holiday generosity that helped 164 youth receive gifts, filled 110 stockings for seniors, and provided 25 foster youth with gifts (with additional donations still coming in) during the season. City of Fredericksburg

- ➤ Quill, the Epic Poet (Bobby Hebert) will guide locals on playing Window Wonderland downtown this Christmas, offering creative hints to uncover festive displays and explore the city center. Fredericksburg Free Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fredericksburg city staff presented a corridor redevelopment plan on Friday, Dec. 19 to convert aging shopping centers along Route 1 and Route 3 into higher-density housing as the city faces limited undeveloped land. Potomac Local News
- ➤ VDOT will lift many lane closures and work zones on major roads from noon Wed, Dec. 24 until noon Fri, Dec. 26 and from noon Wed, Dec. 31 until noon Fri, Jan. 2 — though some semi-permanent zones remain. Drivers should use the free 511 app for updates. Potomac Local News
- ➤ Fredericksburg Area Museum and city officials will host public presentations starting Jan. 7 to collect input on a new Auction Block memorial at William and Charles streets. eo Studio (led by artist Eto Otitigbe) will lead the design, with online and in-person sessions scheduled through March 10.
